Antonín Bajaja’s books have been translated into eight languages: Belarussian, Bulgarian, Croatian, English, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, Slovenian, with the rights sold to two more countries: Syria and Macedonia.
His novel Zvlčení – Romaneto o vlcích, lidech a úkazech / Growing Wild – a Tale of Mystery and Imagination about Wolves, Humans, and Phenomena has been translated into Byelorussian, Hungarian, Slovenian, Russian, Bulgarian and Croatian, and was awarded the Magnesia Litera Prize for prose in 2004 and shortlisted for the 2016 St Petersburg Library Prize for Foreign Fiction.
His latest novel Na krásné modré Dřevnici / Burying the Season (Host, 2009) was awarded the State Prize for Literature (2010) and nominated for two more domestic literary prizes. Its English version was published by Jantar Publishing in United Kingdom in 2016, see more here.
